A Little Warmth

Everyone at C University knows that Han Jiang, from the French department, is aloof, taciturn, and bad-tempered. He has a heart of stone and no interest in women. There are enough girls he's turned down to fill two mahjong tables. Until one day, a group of his buddies saw him clutching the ribbon on a young woman's clothes to keep her from leaving, lazily and shamelessly asking, "When are you coming back next time?" * When Wen Yan was six, she was sent to live with the Han family. It didn't take long for the lovely little Wen Yan to become the beloved darling of all the older boys in the alley. Only Han Jiang, in the next room, kept a sour look on his face whenever he saw her. When Wen Yan was sixteen, the older boy next door confessed his feelings for her. Han Jiang sneered from the side, "He's a good guy. Too bad he went blind at such a young age." * Later. On Wen Yan's eighteenth birthday, Han Jiang waited for her downstairs all night, only to see another man bring her home. He completely lost it. Grabbing her by the collar, he shoved her hard against the wall and kissed her without hesitation. Once he'd marked her as his, Han Jiang looked with satisfaction at the dazed young woman. "What, surprised?" "..." What do you think? A few minutes ago, I thought you were about to jump me and beat me up. Waiting for you to grow up is so hard. -- Han Jiang * For all the countless days and nights ahead, I only wish to drift through them with you.
