My Master

I'm an apprentice spy.

Due to a change in personnel above me, I need to find a new teacher.

Though I was very reluctant, I had no choice but to accept it. I'm only an apprentice, after all. Who would listen to my opinion?

"An apprentice can only graduate after their master dies. That's an ironclad rule." My teacher tapped my head with a bamboo stick.

"Can't we make an exception?" I looked at him pitifully.

"Slow-witted," my teacher said with a laugh, but didn't answer.

How could I have forgotten?
