Amnesia

"Last time, you said you could always hear someone reading aloud."

"That's right." Luo Xi quickly caught up with her, sensing that the other woman was only two or three steps away.

"I can always hear that girl reading. She doesn't take it seriously at all, like she's just fooling around." Her brow furrowed as she tried to recall it carefully. "I try really hard to make out what she's reading, but every time the sound appears, all kinds of noise quickly drown it out. I feel so helpless."

It was as if she'd had a very, very long dream. In it, she and a man chased and teased each other, from the bloom of youth to their days in suits and business attire. He always looked at her with fondness. In the dream, she would hold a messy pile of books and read aloud while he worked. Her voice was always loud, and he could never bring himself to scold her.

"Xiao Zheng, if you keep this up, I won't speak to you for the rest of the day."
