Douluo: An Encounter with Shadows

"Bro, Fatty burned down the roof again!"

"Make him fix it himself!"

"Bro, Zhuqing and Boss Dai are fighting again!"

"Let them work it out themselves!"

"Bro, Li Ge, he..."

Before Xiao Wu could finish speaking, a pair of hands had already reached around from behind and wrapped around his neck. The man chuckled, his voice husky and his tone somewhat suggestive.

"Xiao San, I got another contract to kill you. What should I do?"

"..."

Tang San, the spiritual leader of the Shrek Seven Devils, was once again facing a difficult challenge today.

What a headache.

A Douluo Dalu fanfic that follows the original story, with an original protagonist. The source text will be quoted only occasionally for exposition, and will make up no more than 10 percent of the story. There are lots of original elements.

The couple is definitely strong with strong. The protagonist is the bottom, a genius Soul Master, neither a transmigrator nor reborn, with Twin Martial Souls and a golden finger, but I'll try not to make him too overpowered.

I disagree with some of Sanshao's rather blunt ideas about romance, so I'll flesh out the love stories as much as I can without affecting the plot. Some of the romantic arcs will take inspiration from the manhua. I'll also cut some bizarre romances, like Zi Zhenzhu inexplicably turning from a lesbian into a straight woman.

The story follows both the manhua and the novel, but primarily the novel. I'll try to keep all the characters true to themselves, and Xiao Wu won't be bashed.

Pairing: an overpowered top who stumbles into adventures no matter what he does x a bottom who's been unlucky for ten thousand years and can't even be saved by the protagonist's plot armor

This story has no connection to any other works in the series besides Douluo Dalu.

Don't ask me for an outline. The author tore it up.

Updates whenever inspiration strikes, but I won't abandon it. I may post extra chapters for long reviews.

This is a free fanfic, and readers haven't paid a cent for it. Feel free to stay or leave. If you don't like it, don't read it. Readers who want to flood the comments with criticism of the protagonist or the premise, please do me a favor and leave on your own. There are plenty of other Douluo fanfics, and they won't miss this one. I welcome friendly suggestions. Before you spout nonsense, please pay the author first.

Theme: There are shackles called fate that we must escape, even if it means being shattered to pieces.
