Back to the Future to Meet You

The protagonist, Wen Shisan, a playboy from the Wen family and the male lead, joins the Eastern Column Army after giving up his writing career to pursue Ye Xinlan, a famous actress from Dongguan. On the battlefield, Wen Shisan is entrusted with an urgent mission to move vital intelligence. After being knocked unconscious in an explosion, he transmigrates to the modern day, 2017, and switches souls with Wu Ming, an extra in a film crew.

After recovering, Wen Shisan uses Wu Ming's body to meet his descendants in the Wen family. Terrified by the modern world and the differences between the eras, he tries every way he can to return to the past. Wen Hongyi, the film's investor, initially thinks that Wu Ming has lost his mind from being frightened by an accident on set. But after a series of absurd and hilarious events within the film-within-a-film, he discovers that the soul inhabiting the extra Wu Ming is none other than his own grandfather, Wen Yaozong, the late chairman of Yaozong Industries.

With the help of his grandson Wen Hongyi, the male lead, and his good friend, screenwriter Hu Bian, Wen Shisan adjusts to and falls in love with modern life. Hoping to discover what happened during the more than seventy years of his life that remain unknown to him, he investigates the truth behind his name change to Wen Yaozong. With Wen Hongyi's help, Wen Shisan enters the Wen family, where he meets his ninety-year-old wife, Chen Yanlai. After a turbulent and hilarious stint in the film industry, Wen Shisan finds true love, uncovers the mystery of his future, and helps his descendants resolve their family conflicts. In the end, to finish the mission he left incomplete, and make amends to his true love, Chen Yanlai, and his descendants, Wen Shisan decides to return to the past and live out the rest of his life with care and purpose. Meanwhile, the equally unknown extra Wu Ming sets off on the road to stardom...
