Goodnight, My One and Only

Blurb: Lu Xi was a child star when she was young, and enjoyed two years of a glamorous life. But time passed. More than ten years later, nobody recognized her anymore, and she quietly lived an ordinary life. Later, through a twist of fate, Lu Xi reentered the entertainment industry, still completely unknown. The best roles she could get were bit parts as supporting actresses, or serving as background atmosphere on variety shows. Her days as a child star had become nothing more than the one old joke that people kept bringing up on shows. Then, on one variety show, the production team went to great lengths to invite Zhou Yang, now the most talked-about top-tier star. Before Lu Xi could even flatter him, she heard him turn around and say he used to be her fan. Lu Xi was stunned. But nobody believed him. After all, Zhou Yang had never had anything to do with Lu Xi before. Zhou Yang had been famous since his debut. His films had topped the box office, he'd won awards, and his popularity had always been miles ahead of everyone else's. On top of that, he had the face of a notorious playboy, with enough rumored girlfriends and boyfriends to stretch for miles. However you looked at it, that was clearly just a polite joke. - Later, Lu Xi's career began to take off, and she gradually got opportunities to work with Zhou Yang. Later still, Lu Xi became one of Zhou Yang's rumored girlfriends. His fans were so used to it they were numb: "My Yang's womanizing playboy persona is still going strong." The troublemakers fanned the flames: "I love this. Dig up more! I want to see Zhou Yang's Girlfriend 101!" Bystanders took the chance to ship them: "They're so cute, I love it. Can anyone recommend stories with similar character dynamics?" While everyone argued noisily, Zhou Yang, for the first time ever, responded to a dating rumor: "I haven't even won her over yet." ...What?! Everyone's jaws hit the floor. ...Much, much later, a fan digging through old footage rediscovered that variety show and was shocked to realize Zhou Yang had really meant it when he'd said he was Lu Xi's fan. - *This should probably, maybe, more or less be a lighthearted story *A short story *Blurb uploaded on September 20, 2023 Theme: Love
