In his nightmares, he saw the friends he treasured lying bloodied in a sea of flames. The one who had always been especially close to him was there too, protecting him in a corner behind a wall, pretending to be dead so he could escape. The other's body was covered in wounds that pierced straight through.
The blood on that face even turned everything he saw scarlet. The other person struggled to force out a few breathy sounds, but in the end, never managed to say one last thing to him.
