[He Xi] Never Fade

[Blurb]

Feng Tsuyuin Yamato has no right to fall ill. Even so, the sudden onset of the serious illness known as "Hanahaki Disease" caught him off guard, leaving him unconscious with a high fever.

This terminal illness afflicts only heirs of the Feng Tsuyuin bloodline, and can claim a patient's life in just one month. Family records contain only one case of recovery, and the words "for unknown reasons" are the only clue to treatment left in the notes.

The JP's staff, worried for their director's safety, are at a loss and can only seek help once more from a former ally. Hibiki Kuze can bring Yamato around, but cannot stop the crisis closing in on him...

What is the meaning of "dayflower," an ordinary and delicate flower?

[Notes]

Canon-based, with a Hanahaki Disease AU. A twin birthday fic for Hibiki and Yamato. Good luck on your college entrance exams!

A little angst for the heart, lots of sweetness to make up for it. It's a happy ending, so read without worry.

The setting blends elements from both the anime and the game, and contains major spoilers for the DS2 game sequel, Record Breaker. If you haven't finished the game, proceed with caution.

A quick guide to Hanahaki Disease:

"Flower Vomiting Disease," commonly called "Hanahaki Disease," is a condition caused by unrequited love. The afflicted suffer emotional and physical pain, and petals come out when they speak or cough. They will die within a short time. The only cure is to kiss the person they love and vomit up flowers together. It first appeared in Japanese otome novels, and was later widely used by Chinese writers in danmei fiction.

The above is excerpted from Baidu Baike. Most other details in this story are the author's own inventions.

A quick guide to the flower:

Dayflower symbolizes "respect." Because its bloom lasts such a short time, people also say, "My fragrance lasts only a day, but love never fades." The title of this story comes from that saying.
