In the Bright Light

Jiang Taotao, a kindhearted young woman from a farming family, rescues a handsome man who has lost his sight.

The handsome young man is proud and suspicious: "Are you after my looks and hoping I'll marry you, or are you after my family's wealth and hiding some ulterior motive?"

Jiang Taotao waves her hands frantically. "You're overthinking it, sir. I just want to catch a ride to Chang'an so I can find my relatives."

After they reach Chang'an,

Second Young Master Lu: "Now that you've found your relatives, are you waiting for me to propose, or are you going to offer yourself to me?"

Jiang Taotao purses her lips. "Your brow looks dark to me, sir. You may not have long to live. Why don't we part ways and each go our own way?"

Lu Zhiya is also curious about why Jiang Taotao is never afraid of him. Only Jiang Taotao knows that, in that year of raging war, a good man once stood for her with a spear in hand, beneath the bright banners.
