A Pregnant Wife at Home

"Chi Yu, you..." The hand holding the divorce agreement trembled uncontrollably. Lin Mobai closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, there was less resolve in her expression and more compromise and hope. "I can hear you out. Is there some reason you can't tell me? Say something. I... I can forgive you..." Lin Mobai had never been so humble. There was even a hint of pleading in her eyes. She loved her. The divorce was only meant to make her reveal the truth. Deep down... she still couldn't bear to let her go... The person across the table paused and let out a long sigh. Beneath the tabletop, hidden from view, her nails were already digging deep into her flesh. One second after another passed. Lin Mobai felt as if an entire century had gone by before she heard Chi Yu softly say, "No." Disappointment and heartbreak, mixed with an anger she couldn't put into words, made Lin Mobai reach for the pen on the table without hesitation. But when the nib touched the blank white page, she still couldn't bring herself to write. "Chi Yu..." With tears in her eyes, Lin Mobai hesitated for a long time before finally working up the courage to say, "If I told you I'm pregnant, would you... still insist?" Chi Yu shuddered all over and looked up at the person across the table, her eyes filled with disbelief. "You..." Lin Mobai nodded. A little more hope rose in her eyes, and she even began to loosen her grip on the pen. The disbelief in Chi Yu's eyes slowly faded, turning into an overwhelming sadness and helplessness. Her hands clenched into fists beneath the table, then opened. At last, she scratched the backs of her hands unconsciously, leaving alarming red marks. The corners of her eyes were already red, and her nose stung. Chi Yu's lips trembled as she forced herself to give that answer: "Divorce!" [Author's Note] 1. I'm terrible at coming up with titles.
