After a long pause, he clapped without the slightest sincerity and said coolly, "Who would've thought an elite player would show such nerve in a casino? I'm impressed, I'm impressed." Then he scoffed, "But whether you'll live long enough to see it through is another question."
Takami shrugged and smiled breezily. "Can't help it. I've fallen for a gambler without equal. Winning you over is bound to cost me something."
He dropped to one knee, took Tokuchi's pale left hand, and pressed a kiss to it. Then he declared his love with heartfelt sincerity: "The greatest proof of my sincerity I can think of is to wager my life against you in one enormous gamble."
