Ruan Tao discovered that ever since the cosmetics in her home came to life, her life had become a world of extremes. Along with being a diligent, invisible little writer, she was also saddled with an impressive side job: Queen of Cosmetics. But a queen's duty was to study makeup and earn higher scores, all to keep the cosmetics bigwigs at home happy. What if she didn't pass? Ruan Tao could tell you. Working as an editor for a paranormal magazine in a real world without ghosts is safe and harmless. She can even coast on her past experience, making it the perfect retirement plan. But just as Ning Shu is getting ready to lie flat, she makes a "surprising" discovery: the so-called paranormal events have always been staged by people, but some familiar faces from the horror world have somehow joined the cast... Ning Shu: Great, the real thing! Now my laid-back life is completely doomed! One day, people begin to notice that scenes straight out of ghost stories are quietly unfolding in their once-ordinary lives. The actors are just a little different from what they had imagined... [An abandoned building] As the red-clad female ghost closes in, while the people around her flee in panicked disarray, Ning Shu looks up and carefully measures the distance between the ceiling and the floor. Someone nearby screams in despair, "What are you doing?! The ghost is coming! Aaaah!" Ning Shu: "Oh, I'm worried the ceiling here might be too low. I might not be able to hang myself properly, and that would interfere with the exorcism." As she speaks, an old hemp rope drops out of thin air, tightens around her neck, and hoists her into the air!
