He had forgotten everything except his own name. But that name belonged to the East District's chief Guide, who had already died in the line of duty. Worse, he had a face identical to theirs. Gu Jue quickly deduced two possibilities: he had come back from the dead, or he was a clone. The best way to find out was to seek out the Guide's lover, Selt, the former chief Sentinel of the West District. They had once shared a complete mental link, and even if faced with an identical appearance, that link would let him recognize the soul. But rumors said the former chief Sentinel was cold, brutal, and extremely dangerous. Most importantly, the deceased Guide and Selt had once been enemies, and the odds that their relationship had been a political marriage were as high as 99.9%. Gu Jue concluded that if he ran into Selt, there was a very high chance he would be physically eliminated. He resolved to hide his identity and never reveal who he was. Until he was chased, fell from a building, and landed squarely in Selt's car. Their eyes met. Before Gu Jue could run, he saw the supposedly cold and brutal Sentinel's eyes turn red in an instant. They don't get much page time, but some people seem to mind, so I'm mentioning it upfront. Also, quite a few supporting characters don't make it to the end, and the second half has plenty of heartbreak. The other players on the train eyed Shi Xu, the only one who had entered the carriage early, with suspicion. Everyone: "Why did you get into the carriage early?" Shi Xu said without expression, "I'm socially anxious." Everyone: "Why did you charge ahead just now without discussing it with us?!" Shi Xu said without expression, "Social anxiety." Everyone: "You actually have no idea which option is correct, do you?! If we choose wrong, everyone will die!" Shi Xu said without expression, "...Anxious." Everyone was at a loss for words. Wait, by socially anxious, do you mean a social terrorist?! "Socially Anxious Persona, But High-Risk" "Turns Out the High-Risk One Isn't the Instance, It's the Protagonist?" "What Kind of Social Anxiety Is This?!" When the Werewolf game voting began, nearly everyone cast their votes for Shi Xu. Shi Xu stared daggers in a certain direction. A black cat was crouching there, pretending to be innocent... Rather than him, shouldn't they vote out this black cat that no one else could see? ...Where had this black cat even come from? Could it really be someone who had gotten himself killed and turned into a cat so he could keep haunting him? After clearing three instances in a row, Shi Xu came across his ex, who should have been long dead, inside an instance. The man was sprinting toward him, chased by a blood-covered ghost. Shi Xu: "..." Forced to run together, the two finally escaped. The man let go of Shi Xu's hand and said, "I heard your name is You Yingjue, too?" Beneath the familiar face was a completely unfamiliar gaze. The man didn't remember him at all, but his knack for dragging people into trouble was clearly written into his DNA. Shi Xu glanced at the calm and decisive You Yingjue, thought of the black cat who pretended to be clueless around him every day, and sneered. "...No, actually, that's my pet's name." You Yingjue pondered for a moment, then asked hesitantly, "Did you meet this pet of yours through legitimate channels?" Shi Xu: "?" Theme: Don't give up in the face of hardship.
