A Long Song Like Smoke

Once there was a woman who never lowered her head to offer a demure smile. When she laughed, she never cared about appearances, but her smile spread across the world like sunshine. What was most captivating was the way she would turn and smile without even realizing it. It seemed as though she had never owned anything, yet her eyes looked as if they held the entire world.

The love we once shared

The hatred we once held

The people we once were

Once, you too were bright as sunshine

Though I did not witness your youthful years

I can still stay by your side until the end

I had no choice but to hurt you to protect you

And you had no choice but to protect me by acting cold and heartless

But I know

Love

Is like a gentle stream

Flowing from the depths of your heart

And into mine
