The New Prince of Tennis: Strings Falling on the Wind

He looked at the girl before him, cold, distant, and arrogant. It seemed he could no longer see the girl she had been before she turned ten. Back then, she had been gentle and easy to get along with, and he had always been the one to protect her. When had things changed?

Right, it seemed to be after she went abroad for treatment when she was ten. They had never been in touch again. How had she spent those five years? Why was she so cold toward him? Those questions tormented him. Looking at her prickly demeanor, he had no idea how to show her he cared.

She looked at the boy before her, dressed in black and wearing a hat, with a mature expression as he berated his juniors. It seemed she could no longer see the boy who had cared for and protected her. Before she turned ten, he had been so fond of her that he took the blame whenever she did something wrong. He had even learned kendo to protect her. Now, she could no longer open her heart to him.

Those five years had taught her too much. If she wanted to stand at the top of the world, she couldn't afford to have too many attachments. But seeing him now, unable to find a way to protect her, she still couldn't help feeling moved. It was as if she could see the two of them as they had been back then.

"Hui Yi, I'll make it to the top of the world. Then you'll hear my name all the time, and you won't have to worry about coming back from abroad and not being able to find me."
