A Promise Gathered

Ten years, from departure to return; ten years, from fleeing in panic to achieving fame and success. A promise: I will not return until the rebel king is dead. A promise: I will give you the grandest wedding imaginable. I spent ten years keeping that promise.

I don't want to write about love at first sight sparked by hormones, or unconditional indulgence and protection. But I have indeed sketched the kind of love I aspire to: understanding and devotion, loyalty and sacrifice, striving together until we can stand side by side and survey the world with smiles. Neither the male lead nor the female lead is entirely without need of the other's help, and neither relies on the other just to survive.

The story is mainly about family. There is no love without cause, and no hatred without cause. The bonds of blood we are born with are the best explanation for love and protection. Father and son, mother and child, brothers, brother and sister: that is the true theme of this story.
