Against Heaven

This short story was inspired by Xiao Qu'er's song "Shang Ye."

It's short, though I can't say whether it's any good.

It's a story about a princess and a general.

The female lead isn't perfect.

I'm no good at writing a synopsis.

I just think the lyrics to that song make the best synopsis.

So

In 2012, another tomb was discovered during an archaeological excavation in Xi'an, Shaanxi. Based on the epitaph, it was identified as the joint tomb of a general and a woman of the imperial clan. The main chamber held a double burial coffin, but inside it lay the remains of only one man.

What was surprising was that the woman's title in the epitaph matched that of a princess sent to marry a foreign ruler in the same era, according to the historical records. The reason for this is currently unknown.
