Myths from both East and West tell of the same event: a war between the gods of the East and the gods of the West. The war began because the Eastern and Western gods disagreed over how to create humanity. Their differences drove them to use force to seize control over the course of human civilization. In the West, this myth is the struggle between God and Satan; in the East, it is recorded as the struggle between the Yellow Emperor, aided by the gods, and Yan Emperor and Gonggong.
