The early years of the Republic of China are my favorite era. In Too Late to Say I Love You, the story of Su Ying and Murong Feng was only briefly mentioned. I took these lines from the original: "... until he met Su Ying. She looked so much like you, Jingwan. You have no idea how much she looked like you. I went to her school then, and when I saw her in the crowd from a distance, I immediately made up my mind: I had to make her mine, no matter who she was or who tried to stop me..." and "... I did every foolish thing imaginable, putting her on a pedestal... I listened to everything she said and agreed to everything she asked. Even if she wanted the moon, I would have someone go and pluck it for her... But I couldn't even keep her safe." I pieced these lines together into a story, simply to honor my deep love and affection for this work. I wrote it for Fei Da to read, and also for myself.
Is there Su Ying in the novel? . . Why am I not impressed at all? . .
