Reborn in the Kangxi Dynasty: Su Ma La Gu

"Could this really be a curse on the Aisin Gioro clan? Emperor Taizong pined away for Hailanzhu, the love of his life. Fulin was so infatuated with Consort Donggo that he abandoned his throne and family. And now you, my most cherished grandson, the one on whom I placed such high hopes! Are you going to follow in your grandfather's and father's footsteps?" "Please don't be angry, Grandmother. I have no intention of abandoning the empire. I simply believe that being emperor doesn't mean I must forsake love and affection. The throne has cost me many things I can never have back. I had no choice in that, and I won't complain. I'll do my best to be a good emperor, and I beg you to let me keep this precious little happiness by my side." "Xuan Ye, don't forget: a ruler can never live like an ordinary person. You'll never be able to give her a complete love. That's unfair to her. If you love her, why not set her free?" "Grandmother, have you ever loved someone? I've heard people say that loving someone means being happy as long as they are happy. I don't agree. I love her, and I firmly believe that only I can make her happy. I can't trust anyone else, and no one else could give her what I can!" I've never been able to forget Xuan Ye and Suma from Kangxi Dynasty, so I'm trying my hand at writing this story. It's just an idea I've had for a scene in the TV series. Historical accuracy enthusiasts, please stay away. Updates will be irregular. Feel free to bookmark and leave a comment!
