A Love That Waited [JX3]

P.S. The main story was finished in 2014 and published in 2015. Its old-fashioned values may seem questionable by today's standards, so read with caution.

"If I'm still single at 24, and you're still single too, let's just settle for each other!" It was only a joke, but she really did wait for him to turn 24.

But a joke is just a joke. The year he turned 24, all she got for her four years of waiting was a message from his girlfriend: "He said it was only a joke back then. Why did you take it seriously? And even if you did, why wait for him like that for four whole years?"

Two years later, she finally agreed to get married. But on the eve of her engagement, he appeared again. Was he trying to rekindle the feelings she'd finally managed to bury? And just because he wanted to rekindle them, did that mean she'd say yes?
