The Next Life

At the foot of Cangqiong Mountain, a little fox cultivates until she takes human form.

She falls for the chief disciple of the Cangqiong Sect.

She gazes at him longingly time and again, but never earns so much as a backward glance.

Only when he is near death after being attacked by someone does she finally step in front of him and save his life.

"Miss, who are you? Miss?" he cries in alarm, holding her in his arms.

Looking into his eyes, which seem to hold the endless tenderness she saw that day, she swallows the metallic taste in her throat and says:

"My name is Lai Sheng."

In my next life, I don't want to be a fox. I only want to become human and grow old by your side.
