The story is told mainly through alternating first-person accounts by father and son, interspersed with events narrated in the third person.
Excerpt:
"That's all just an excuse," Connor said suddenly. "You're only angry because I got in your way."
He stared straight at Haytham in the doorway. His plan had failed, leaving him dejected and restless. This was an age when every second counted, and an age full of delusions and lies.
"Don't worry, boy." Haytham drawled as he walked in from the doorway, then casually shut it behind him. "Those adjectives will follow you for a long time yet, until you can see past Davenport's rigid, even unrealistic, teachings and understand just how many of the lessons he taught you are things he thinks are right but are actually absurd."
Connor clenched his fists and said nothing.
Haytham's cloak swayed as he came over to him. He said mildly, "Sit down. You'll want to talk to me about the Battle of the Chesapeake and the fake British army."
"At least Achilles always guided me in the right direction, and he never abandoned me." Connor's voice dropped, his eyes as still as a pool of dead water. "And you? You've done nothing."
Haytham's eyes flickered at those words. A few seconds later, he blinked, stepped back, and pulled out the chair in the middle of the room before sitting down. A wine bottle stood on the table, still sealed. As the cork came out with a muffled pop, Haytham's somewhat wounded reply filled the room.
"Besides that, he spoiled my son."

It was so heartbreaking to see Uncle Hailsen being stabbed QAQ
Come on, I actually thought about this when I saw the game father and son meet, but I didn't expect someone to actually write it out.
There are very few AC fan fictions now, I hope you can stick with it!
Also, I really like Connor, compared to his grandfather.
Oh, it's gone_(:з∠)_
