Whale Fall

Uncle Li has braced himself for a long struggle. The style of this story may change considerably from beginning to end, and so may the plot and the characters. It's a rather subtle feeling. ·w·

A certain sea monster's life might be called a moving legend, though that would be a bit of an exaggeration. To call it uneventful, on the other hand, would do her life a disservice.

As a living being in the deep sea who still retained her warmth, Luoshi had spent time alone and time in the company of others. She had loved someone and been loved in return. She had known embraces and smiles, curses and knives. She had weathered the gloomy secrets piled up from confusion, selfishness, and avoidance, and the gentleness of a single sentence that illuminated all her misfortunes. Luoshi had experienced it all.

At last, Luoshi found the best place to call home.

Though my heart aches for you, I pray that your life will have enough rainy days,

so that when the rain finally ends, you can leave this world in peace.

As a human, she once saved this mermaid, who was already impossibly beautiful even as a tiny little thing. To be honest, the first half of that rescue was warm and healing, but the second half turned into a game of chase and hide-and-seek. It wasn't exactly a fond memory, but it was how they first met.

After she returned to the ocean, she met the mermaid again. She steeled herself to cripple the little mermaid, but her opponent had already grown powerful. After much hesitation, she didn't strike. What a cowardly showing. Yes, their second meeting was a cowardly one.

The third time she met that mermaid in the deep sea, the only thing keeping her company in the empty depths was the whale skeleton she had always called home. But she didn't feel sad at all.

"Do you want to die just like this?" The mermaid, now fully grown, looked down at her coldly, pointing her own harpoon at her.

She neither nodded nor shook her head, only smiled.

But the other mermaid tossed the harpoon aside and lunged straight at her. "You're not going anywhere without my permission... You've already abandoned me twice."

"I won't give you a third chance." The mermaid, dazzling beyond compare, said this as she left a faint red mark on her shoulder.

The pairing in this story is mermaid x sea monster, and it cannot be reversed.

For now, updates seem to be every two or three days. TwT There's a lot of rambling, and the romance is pretty weak.

S-sorry, I mean every two or three months...
