She's Just a Hopeless Do-Gooder

The real beginning:

It happened many years ago, back before the Rongcheng family made their fortune. Qing Yu once saw that little boy at a banquet, though she has forgotten why she was there.

Qing Yu's twin sister pointed at the boy and said, "Sis, look. Isn't he adorable?"

She followed the direction of her sister's finger and stared for a moment.

"Yes, he is adorable."

Qing Yu smiled at her sister, then turned and led her away. That person made her uncomfortable. Whenever she saw him, a thick, inescapable sadness welled up inside her.

How strange. And yet she wanted to look at him once more...

At that simple figure she was destined never to see again.

=L= A faceful of melodrama:

She grew stronger for him, steadfastly protecting and loving him, even when he later used her, and even knowing that his future might not include her.

She's practically a saint, and stupid to boot. Stupid enough to make you cry.

So, maybe she should think about what she ought to have considered all along: herself. It wouldn't hurt to sneak off with someone else, would it? He'd be fine whether she was there or not. Surely her stupid, saintly life could use a little spite and selfishness?

"No. Come back. You're not allowed to go anywhere but here with me," he said, his smile carrying a hint of menace.
