On closer thought, this is not a wuxia novel, a detective story, a romance, or a naive wish-fulfillment tale... It's wish fulfillment all the way through, so please bear with me, dear readers. Thanks!
One wrong step leads to another. Liu Xu, a former coroner, falls in with the wrong crowd and unwittingly joins a motley crew. Its leader is Brother A Quan, pleasant-faced but wicked-hearted, devious and cunning. The team also includes Haitang, a breathtaking beauty with the ability to change her skin, and Li Qingfeng, a gloomy, ill-starred middle-aged man.
Liu Xu: I just want a "pardon."
Haitang: I was just curious.
Li Qingfeng: I don't even know why I joined.
A Quan: I know everything, but how could I be satisfied without squeezing every last bit of value out of you?
A record of the secret arts and strange people and events of the martial world, lost to the currents of history.
