Story Overview
Misunderstandings, suspicion, and scorn toward the Yongzheng Emperor never ceased, either during his lifetime or after his death. Three hundred years of rumor and hearsay have muddied the vast river of history even further. But could it be that, as people continue to investigate the past, truths lost and buried long ago might finally come to light after three hundred years of upheaval, clearing his name at last?
Perhaps he doesn't care. But when he is reborn, the people who remain by his side and cherish him still want to do something for him. In September 2012, at an autumn auction in Paris, France, a large collection of authentic imperial treasures from the Kangxi and Yongzheng reigns was purchased by the American Ying family and the Italian Medici family. That same day, the Louvre's underground archives released previously unpublished pages from the memoirs of the Italian missionary Matteo Ripa, recording what happened on the day Yongzheng took the throne.
This is still a story, neither history nor reality, but I hope it expresses a wish for history. No matter how time passes, the truth will one day be washed clear, like gold dust in a river.
