The Sequel to Journey to the East: Better to Cherish the One Before You

This is a sequel to Journey to the East, written by Little Wu herself. The main pairing is Xian and Lu. If that's not your cup of tea, please don't read.

First, a little explanation: the story has two threads, one about Xian and Lu, and the other about two original characters. Both storylines are exciting, though.

Little Wu set the story during the Ming dynasty, around the time Zhu Di seized the throne. Most of it is about exorcising demons, with some palace intrigue and tender romance as well.

I'll do my best not to abandon this story. I started it in a fit of determination because there were too many abandoned stories in the forum! If I find it hard to continue later on, I'll shorten it. I expect it to be a medium-to-long novel.

Perhaps, just as Ma Ge himself said, Dongbin liked Mudan in Journey to the East. She had sacrificed so much for him, and whether out of guilt or pity, affection was bound to grow. But that doesn't mean Dongbin felt nothing for Xiangu. Many people in the forum have already explained this, so I won't repeat it.

I've just been wondering: if Journey to the East continued, the three lifetimes of love between Mudan and Dongbin would have run their course. Dongbin might still feel some fondness and regret for Mudan, but he would also know they could never be together again. Dongbin and Xiangu, on the other hand, were destined to accompany each other through lifetime after lifetime, through life and death. That bond of sharing life and death was something Mudan could never match.

After everything they've been through, who can say that Lu Dongbin and Xiangu won't fall in love over time? I've already put all my thoughts about them into the title and the poem at the beginning. Who is the distant mountain, and who is the person before your eyes? It will all become clear.
