Bandit Strategy

Great Plot, Great Romance, or Both

For my records. Most are rated above four stars, but for personal reasons I don't like giving five stars.

Funny, Cute Reads to Brighten My Bitter Life

Both historical and modern stories. After reading something angsty or getting worn down by life, I need something sweet, satisfying, and brainless ToT. Work is stressful, so I can't focus on anything too serious. I'll keep adding to this list.

Just Plain Hilarious

I don’t care about the plot or romance. It’s just really funny.

Searching for Historical Danmei

Only adding books I personally think deserve a high rating... Updated from time to time.

Ancient-Era BL Novels I Might Reread

Includes infrastructure building and farming, court politics, and wuxia jianghu stories. For my own reference. I’m a chaotic omnivore with few dealbreakers. Anyone with requirements about first times or a preferred dynamic should steer clear.

Older Fics, Mostly Fully Purchased

Books I bought before 2020, rated 3–4 stars. See the other list for five-star reads. Two stars means the author had some controversy; this is just for my own records.

So, So, So Good

Forever loving Bei Nan, Xu Xutu Zhi, and Yu Xiao Lanshan

Historical Danmei (Happy Ending)

Keeping a record of the historical danmei I've read. Mostly monogamous, with no angst between the couple and decent writing. The four-star rating is only because I couldn't give full marks.

Great Stories Worth Rereading Again and Again (All Danmei)

A seasoned reader with over a thousand purchases, this is a collection of books I've reread. I tracked them all down myself, and have read each at least three times. Every one is a gem! The prose, plot, and romance are all on point.

Worth Revisiting Again and Again

A longtime JJ veteran fan's treasured reading list, from way back when to the present. These books are worth revisiting, and the quality is guaranteed.

Handsome Bottoms (Saved)

I like handsome bottom characters, and might include muscular bottoms too. Pretty boys show up now and then. I’m neither top- nor bottom-biased, and I have no hang-ups. I don’t read 1vN. I’ve read lots of historical danmei, so please recommend some to me.

So Good, I Read Them Twice or Thrice

Mutual pampering is amazing, with the top and bottom both obviously in love with each other. The poor bottom-obsessed reader can’t get the bottom’s attention at all. How tragic. Bottom moms, bottom moms, I love the bottom so much, but the bottom only loves the top??

Top 1-1, Complete

Stories I really love, including BL, BG, and no-CP. A few are unfinished, and updates have stopped.

Lighthearted Reads

Perfect for unwinding after work when you don’t want to think too hard. Yu Xiao Lan Shan is my god.

Worth Rereading

Just my personal picks, for when I'm in a reading slump.

Clashing Swords and Blades: Roaming the World

Wuxia and xianxia: no cookie-cutter plots or terrible writing

Historical

Palace intrigue and noble houses, historical fiction, jianghu adventures, and cultivation.

Ancient-Era Gay Romance Is Absolutely Amazing, No Explanation Needed!

I've gathered some popular and less popular historical BL stories that are still flying under the radar. A little treasure trove!

Let Me Take a Look

A Record of Danmei I Keep Coming Back To

Stories I personally really like.

Top-Tier Historical Fantasy, Strong Leads (Bottom-Friendly)

Historical settings, including cultivation, court politics, and everyday life. I’m bottom-focused and absolutely friendly to bottom fans. To clarify, I don’t take part in online flame wars. By bottom-focused, I mean a preference for the bottom’s perspective and no angst for the bottom.

Happy New Year

May you live in peace and joy, safe and well year after year

For My Own Reference

Wuxia and martial arts stories
