The Poisonous Gu Consort

In a single night, her entire family was wiped out.

He came to her beneath the moon, blazing like a fire, and brought her warmth.

He saved her life, and she fell for him.

She stood at his side, repaying him with years of struggle and the vast lands beneath the heavens. She believed that, apart from herself, no one else was worthy of standing beside him.

Years later, she turned away from their story and finally understood. She was a flower in the mist, drawing hope from the haze, while Mu Bai was snow on a heavenly mountain, and snow had its own reasons for falling.

She would forget those mountains and rivers, those beauties and fine wines, those grudges and tangled affections. She would also forget that absurd dream of glory. With her heart dead, she would leave, resolute and cold.

If only she had turned around to look, she would have been delighted to find that the snow had already melted, and that he treasured her above all else, holding her dear in his heart.
