A story I wrote several years ago
This story was inspired by a dream I had. In the dream, a skeleton tried to kill me, but in the end it spared me and kept me by its side, though it barely paid me any attention. It kept killing people until one day it was about to hurt my family. I desperately tugged at its sleeve to stop it, though I never really expected to succeed. But the skeleton, which had never cared about me before, stopped and looked at me intently. In that gaze, I suddenly felt a tenderness that was impossible to put into words.
At the time, I was feeling deeply lonely and cold inside, and doubting myself. The tenderness in that dream gave me a comforting warmth that lingered even after I woke up. I suddenly felt compelled to put that dream into a story, to use my writing to hold on to that fleeting tenderness.
That feeling was so urgent, and the emotions so intense, that after I finished writing this story, even I felt its structure was a little chaotic and its twists somewhat abrupt. It was always in a hurried, reckless confusion, much like my own state of mind.
But what does it matter? That was who I was back then. No matter how imperfect it was, it still marked my growth: "I still decided to remember my life, even if it was a futile struggle."
