A grudge-fueled work inspired by Monster Hunter's long absence from the PS Vita.
It combines MHP2G and MHP3, while borrowing a few settings from Frontier Gate.
In short, it's a short story. A short story that completely derails the characters. It has Itachi without the clan massacre, Kakashi as a brooding, black-bellied type burdened with the angst of inheriting Reinbalt's legacy, Naruto indulging my Kakashi-Naruto fantasies, and Sasuke, without his brother looking out for him, getting together with Naruto.
Notes:
I hadn't originally planned to use Kakashi and Itachi as a couple. The names of the weapons in Monster Hunter were just too tempting. Gintama and Bleach could have worked too, but Naruto had the most connections.
I only used Frontier Gate's settings for the next-generation hero candidates and the alliance, since Kakashi and Reinbalt, a next-generation hero candidate, share the same voice actor.
The monster designs based on the MOD are from the Halloween MOD. In this story, MOD creatures are mutants, stronger than G-rank monsters.
One last note: After reading Gintama for so long, my sense of shame has crumbled to dust. I've always insisted that fanfiction should stick to the original characters' personalities, otherwise you might as well write an original story, but... this story has no shame.
