(SD) Distant Light

Slam Dunk Fanfiction, Part One: Akira Sendoh

In that instant, a line I'd happened to glimpse in a Buddhist scripture suddenly came to mind.

The Buddha says: Five hundred glances in a past life are what it takes to earn one chance encounter in this life.

...Akira Sendoh, just how many times did I look back at you in a past life to end up twisting my neck in this one?

...Outside the chain-link fence stood a tall, slender boy, a basketball spinning on his fingertip, a smile playing at his lips. It wasn't especially showy or bright, just calm and unhurried. The morning sun spread across the sky behind him, like a golden river rippling in the light, flowing through the utter stillness. In an instant, the whole world seemed to open up before me.

Akira, Akira

For a moment, I suddenly understood: it was because of him that there was light!

It was bright simply because the sun had risen! What nonsense am I thinking? Go hide in a corner and slap yourself~...

!)!

P.S. Short story, complete.
