Gossip at Xiaofeng Academy

Blurb: The empire is at peace and the court has nothing to do. The only things that stir up a little excitement are, naturally, the latest gossip. One day, Bai Xiaofeng, hailed as the greatest scholar, the most handsome man, and the greatest playboy in the land, founded the Xiaofeng Academy. Before long, princesses, commandery princesses, talented ladies, and wealthy young women came flooding in, each with an ulterior motive. The court historian, Cheng Ziqian, camped outside the academy, and all sorts of "Ziqian Manuscripts" found their way into circulation. They spread from the streets and alleys to the inner palace, and the question of whom Bai Xiaofeng would ultimately choose became a favorite topic of conversation among the people of the capital. Hold on a moment. Does that make you think Bai Xiaofeng is the protagonist of this book? Not at all! The imperial dynasty has a general named Suo Luoding. With his awkward name, irreverent nature, notorious reputation, and utter lack of popularity, he is the dynasty's greatest martial artist, and he is the real male lead of this story. The emperor gave Suo Luoding a mission: go undercover at the academy and report back with firsthand information. Every so often, he was to fan the flames or sabotage a good thing, so that the emperor could always win his bets with the imperial consorts. The emperor also told Suo Luoding to brush up on his manners while he was at it, and get rid of that ruffian streak of his. The one put in charge of "keeping Suo Luoding in line" was Bai Xiaofeng's sharp-tongued, gossipy, and beautiful younger sister, Bai Xiaoyue. And so Suo Luoding found himself at loggerheads with Bai Xiaoyue. That girl was no ordinary handful! Theme: Both the literary and martial arts have their strengths. Study hard.
