The title came from A Duo. I originally thought I'd just call it Untitled... She said the story had a heavy, gloomy atmosphere, though the whole thing ultimately came from a single line that suddenly inspired me.
Here's the original seed of the story, even though I feel it doesn't quite capture the mood I wanted to write:
"Pairing: RL/SS
'Right, I'm a monster, a werewolf everyone avoids like the plague.' Lupin looked calmly at Snape. 'But Snape, are you really any better than me? My friends are trash. You don't even have any friends.'
