The Ancient Gods: Twinborn Turmoil

On the third day of the first month of the twenty-seventh year of Emperor Fan's reign, Year 127 of the New Calendar, the Twin Star Observatory of the Celestial Rites Bureau witnessed two stars fall. They proclaimed that a star of ill omen had descended upon the world, a most inauspicious sign. A short while later, Empress Mi went into premature labor and died, giving birth to a son, the emperor's third son, Mu. At dawn, Consort Ye went into labor and gave birth to a daughter. Her cries boomed like thunder, and the sky suddenly brightened. The emperor was overjoyed. He named her Mu, granted her the title of Princess Jiamu, and bestowed upon her Jiamu Commandery. History of the Fan Dynasty The golden age of Emperor Fan, the most glorious height of the Cang Dynasty, was destroyed by the upheaval known as the Jiamu Rebellion. Some say it was the beauty who brought disaster; others say that all great prosperity must eventually decline. The conflict remains the subject of endless debate. It marked the turning point from the Cang Dynasty's rise to its fall, leaving the dynasty gravely weakened and setting it on a gradual decline. It also gave rise to two taboos: the Ya clan was suppressed and forbidden from commanding troops, and princesses were required to marry into commoner families and forbidden from marrying into the Four Great Clans. In truth, this could also be called an alternate ending to the Cinderella story. I've started a new story! An irresponsible teaser: This story has plenty of handsome men, beautiful women, melodrama, and outrageous plot twists. The heroine is a force to be reckoned with: she'll conquer kingdoms and fall in love, and do it all. Stay tuned for Phoenix Returns to Court! Theme:
