I read this version of the Legend of the White Snake when I was very young. I can no longer remember where it came from, and I only have a vague impression of the general plot. But I remember very clearly, and really liked, a version where the White Lady wasn't a snake demon. Even more than ten years later, I still remember that story. When I told people around me about it, I realized that no one had heard of it, and I couldn't find it online either. I really, really like this version of The Legend of the White Snake, so I took the time to rewrite and organize the story in my own words. I hope more people will get to read it.
