She was ordinary: a university, a romance, and a best friend.
But the summer before her junior year, a nightmare shattered the rhythm of her life.
On the day she was forced to break up, when her boyfriend finally left in a misunderstanding, how could she hold on?
Excerpt One:
"I used to be so naive. I thought a man only had to be handsome. But... in the end, I realized how terribly wrong I was. What kind of future can you have studying animation? Am I supposed to struggle along with you for the rest of my life? You can't give me the happiness I want."
"I might as well tell you this, too. I'm getting married, in mid-July."
"Good. Very good." He smiled faintly, his eyes full of pity and sympathy. He couldn't even bring himself to mock her. "Xu Chenyan, I never imagined you were this kind of woman... I really was blind to your true nature!"
She murmured softly, "Yes... I am this kind of woman." A woman who had even considered giving up the whole world for him. "You only realized that now?"
Her parents had arranged it, but she was expected to marry a man she'd never even met! The wedding was fast approaching, yet her supposed "husband" had disappeared without a trace.
The day she was tricked into going to register their marriage, she finally met her future husband.
Excerpt Two:
"Huh?" Like a thief caught red-handed, I turned around in a daze, not understanding what had happened. I had no idea how he'd noticed me. All I could manage was a single syllable to express the confusion I felt.
Huh? How did this man notice me? Had I been staring at him with a lecherous, creepy look on my face?
While the traffic light was red, he glanced at me in the brief moment before it turned green. His phoenix eyes were clearly smiling, and laughter lit up the corners of his eyes and brows, like a spring pool.
When she broke up with her boyfriend and met her fiance, one person was always by her side, comforting her in her own special way.
Excerpt Three:
"A woman?" A-Ye cried out in disbelief, then asked without a hint of tact, "A-Chen, I know we're fujoshi, but when did your tastes change? Your marriage partner is actually a woman! Did your dad scare you silly?"
"..." If I'd had a mirror in my hand then, I probably could have seen my twitching mouth and the black lines covering my face.
That person wouldn't let it go and kept asking, "A-Chen, let's get out of here. We can still back out!"
"Hey, listen," A-Ye said impatiently. "A-Chen won't even be a junior until the second half of the year. Are you planning to have her go to class with a baby in her belly?"
"But," Fu Ming persisted, "would A-Jin really leave his lovely wife alone and sleep by himself?"
"Who cares if he would! I'll defend my A-Chen's virtue to the death!"
"You? Can you really do that? What if A-Jin gets frisky one night and takes Xiao Yan? Could you stop him?"
"Hey, you fussy little pansy, you're getting annoying! Why do you care so much?"
"I'm a pansy?"
Their loveless marriage grew more distant with every passing day. They should have remained intimate strangers.
Yet one touching moment after another, and one act of concern after another, came their way.
Can't handle it?
Then take things as they come!
