On the Brink of Death

You must not despair.

You must not grieve.

You must not give up.

You must not die.

You must not seek release.

You must not leave me, or you'll turn into a pile of bones. No, you might not even leave behind ashes.

You understand.

You know.

You get it.

Do you really want to be with me?

Do you really dare to leave me?

Are you really afraid of death?

Are you really the toy I like?

If you don't,

if you don't dare,

if you're afraid,

if you're not,

then I'll make sure that not only your ashes, but even your soul, cease to exist.

That's the price of deceiving me, fawning on me, and defying me.

Good child, don't give me a reason to despise and punish you.

You don't want to find out what that feels like.
