After Xi Qian's close friend suddenly dies, Xi Qian attends the funeral and then wanders in a daze into a cafe called Time's Poison. It serves only one kind of coffee, called Forgetting, and one kind of cheesecake, called The Mortal World. The owner, Qi Yu, is a slender man who also keeps a black cat named Ayi.
Lonely Xi Qian begins spending more and more time at Time's Poison, and from then on, increasingly unbelievable things slowly fill his life. A girl who seems strangely familiar, a boy who returns from the dead, an editor who has been replaced, a couple who flee to a distant place...
The memories he seems to have lost leave Xi Qian frightened, and the enigmatic Qi Yu is even harder to figure out. The truth behind his friend's death gradually comes to light, and painful memories of the past slowly grow clear. No one could have imagined that this would be the ending...
