The Seven-Tailed Red Fox

Beneath the Panling tree that year, he looked up. His breathtaking face wore a faint smile, and I fell from the tree right into his arms, sealing our fate in an entanglement that would last forever. As I touched his firm, flat chest, I asked, "Why aren't we the same?" He smiled and said, "You are a girl, and I am a boy." That year, I learned that there was a creature in this world called a man, and another called a woman. He smiled and said, "I saved your life. Shouldn't you thank me?" I asked, "How should I thank you?" He smiled and said, "How about giving yourself to me?" I asked, "Okay! What does that mean?" He smiled and said, "It means no man but me is allowed to get close to you." That year, I learned that no man but him was allowed to get close to me. He smiled and said, "I'm leaving." I asked, "Will you come looking for me?" He smiled and said, "Yes, I will come looking for you." I said, "Then all right. I'll wait for you to come find me!" That year, he turned and left, his robe's hem fluttering in the wind. Four years. Four years have passed. Why hasn't he kept his promise? Why hasn't he come looking for me? Why has all my bitter waiting brought me nothing but loneliness? When I saw him again, he only smiled and said, "Well, little girl, look how much you've grown!" At the time, I didn't know that to him, it had only been a few days since we'd last met! And what I knew even less was this: Was I really the final tear shed by the girl who had walked beside him for hundreds of thousands of years? [One-Line Blurb] A red-furred, seven-tailed fox is missing two of her tails. But what is she missing? Her heart, her liver, or her lungs? As it turns out, what she's missing is...
