A snake demon takes human form and goes to the mortal world to attend dates in place of girls who don't dare show up. Underground parking garages, streets in the dead of night: she beats them up and leaves without giving out her contact information. But she discovers that after she beats someone up, the girl still has to return to that person's world the next day: HR says, "Just cooperate," her mother says, "Don't make a fuss," and her coworkers ask, "Is she overreacting?"
A crow demon watches from the shadows. He sees all the causes and consequences, but doesn't dare intervene. He's afraid of misjudging the situation, of wronging someone, of his records harming an innocent person.
And a man who walked out of a kitchen goes from victim to perpetrator by way of dropping out of school, living on the streets, being labeled, and being documented. He did nothing. But he's already being punished.
A snake demon strikes from the shadows, and a crow demon watches from the shadows. But he is not in their field of vision.
He is simply hunched over, curled up, his fingertips numb in the dim light.
