After Marrying in Place of My Fake Heiress Sister, She Regretted It

The day Zhu Xingci was brought back to her wealthy family, the fake heiress, Duan Muyun, shoved her into the mud in front of everyone.

Because her wealthy parents favored Duan Muyun, Zhu Xingci was banished to a cramped basement and forced to take care of every dirty, exhausting chore in the house.

For three whole years, she worked day and night like the lowliest servant to pay for her adoptive mother's medical bills, her pride worn down and her spirit drained away.

On the night of Duan Muyun's twentieth birthday banquet, with all eyes on her, Duan Muyun slipped away from the guests and went down to the basement. Looking down at Zhu Xingci, she handed her a check.

"Sign this agreement and give up everything that belongs to the Zhu family. I'll make sure your mother's medical bills are covered."

Duan Muyun thought she had accepted her fate.

But that day, Duan Muyun saw Zhu Xingci's diary, its pages densely filled with the sick, obsessive admiration she had once felt for her older sister. The sight left the young heiress pale with shock.

Eyes red, Duan Muyun hurled the diary at her and demanded furiously, "Zhu Xingci! When did you start having such disgusting thoughts about me?! Do you think I won't have you committed to a mental hospital right now?"

Years of exhaustion and a high fever had ruined Zhu Xingci's voice. All she could do was use her thin, bony fingers to scrawl on a battered tablet.

[From the very beginning.]

Later, the family arranged for Zhu Xingci to take Duan Muyun's place and marry an old man with a violent temper.

On the eve of the wedding, Duan Muyun came to her with a passport and plane tickets, begging her to run away.

"Xingci, I'll take you abroad. I don't want the Zhu family's fortune anymore..."

Zhu Xingci didn't look back. She picked up her wedding dress and walked into the church.

When Duan Muyun and her bodyguards burst into the bridal suite, her younger sister was standing by the balcony as flames consumed the entire room.

Before she fell, her sister faced the howling night wind and gave her the same shy smile she had worn all those years ago.

Her lips moved silently:

"Big Sister, you're free."
