Reading Xu Xiake's Travel Notes gave me the idea for this story. It's set in the mid-Ming dynasty, amid the customs of Jiangnan, in an age of remarkable talents.

Promoting an older work: The Bright Moon and Clear Breeze series. This was the first story I wrote about transmigrating to the Qing dynasty. It's not very long, but I thought about many questions while writing it, so it's more like reflections on life in ancient times.
