An aloof, heartless, untouchable master gong x a brooding, lovesick disciple shou
One day, Xie Yanyu learns that he is the villainous master in a domineering protagonist novel.
More precisely, it's a novel from a certain web-fiction site, about a domineering male lead who gives up everything for love. The male lead is his second disciple, Jiang Wenxue, and the person who drives him mad with love is his first disciple, Su Lian.
System: You and your second disciple have both fallen in love with Su Lian, but Su Lian only has eyes and a heart for Jiang Wenxue.
To make Su Lian fall for you, you stop at nothing. You ruthlessly go after Jiang Wenxue, deliberately teach him the wrong techniques, and try to shatter his Dao heart and ruin his path to immortality.
Later, when Jiang Wenxue searches for a divine artifact at the Chiwu River, you plan to take him by surprise and shove him into an abyss filled with vengeful souls, intending to kill him.
You never expected Jiang Wenxue not only to survive, but to glimpse the secrets of heaven in the abyss from which no one had ever returned, obtain the divine artifact, and climb back out, whereupon he kills you with a single sword thrust to the throat.
After hearing the story, Xie Yanyu doesn't even raise an eyelid. "I cultivate the Path of Heartlessness.
How could I possibly fall in love with anyone, let alone one of my disciples?"
.
But better safe than sorry.
To avoid the tragic ending of the original novel, Xie Yanyu decides to distance himself from the love triangle before it can start.
When Su Lian comes to him for advice on cultivation techniques, he makes sure Jiang Wenxue is there to learn too. He teaches the eldest disciple, then the second, never showing favoritism.
When Su Lian offers to clean his room, Xie Yanyu coolly points at Jiang Wenxue. "You can clean it from now on." After all, every time it was Su Lian's turn to clean, Jiang Wenxue had ended up doing it.
And so, with Xie Yanyu's careful encouragement, he and Su Lian maintain a healthy, positive master-disciple relationship.
But why is the domineering protagonist looking at him more and more strangely?
No matter what Xie Yanyu is doing, he always finds his second disciple watching him from the side with a sinister look.
Xie Yanyu is baffled. Why, after going to such lengths to avoid this love triangle, is his second disciple still out for his life?
The day arrives when, in the original novel, Xie Yanyu pushes Jiang Wenxue into the abyss.
But this time, it is Xie Yanyu who falls.
After he throws himself forward to push Jiang Wenxue out of harm's way, he sees a pair of eyes, red with anguish.
Why? Wasn't Jiang Wenxue supposed to want him dead? So why does his second disciple look so devastated now that he really might die?
The master doesn't understand, but he does obtain the opportunity originally meant for the domineering protagonist.
The divine artifact recognizes its master. Xie Yanyu reaches the threshold of the Deification stage and returns to the human world.
But why have his second and first disciples become enemies? Weren't they a couple?
And even worse, Jiang Wenxue, that disobedient disciple, has betrayed the sect and vanished without a trace.
Xie Yanyu returns to the sect and refuses to see anyone, including his teary-eyed eldest disciple.
Until, late at night, a burning body presses against his back.
Xie Yanyu instinctively channels his power, but the other person anticipated it and binds his hands and feet with an Immortal-Binding Rope. A scorching, irresistible kiss covers his lips, and the intruder rasps, "Master, I've been looking for you for so long, and you wouldn't see me."
"But it doesn't matter. Tonight, you'll belong to me completely."
As soon as Jiang Wenxue's hand reaches toward Xie Yanyu's chest, Xie Yanyu breaks free of the bonds and twists Jiang Wenxue's arm behind his back.
He looks down at his second disciple, who has failed to bully his master, and says in a chilly voice, "You insolent disciple."
"Who do you think you're going to top?"
When Xie Yanyu took that little radish of a child in, he never imagined the boy would one day set his sights on him.
Content warnings:
1. The gong dies, and the shou goes mad with grief; unrequited love. The master diligently raises his disciple, only to discover that all these years, the disciple has wanted nothing more than to be his cultivation partner.
2. One-on-one romance. Both leads are pure in body and heart; the shou doesn't love the senior brother, and the senior brother doesn't love the shou.
3. I'm not great at writing blurbs and may revise this before I start posting, but the core idea probably won't change.
Theme: Stay true to your Dao heart.
