Hiding in Your Heart
When Qiu Yingying signed the contract to be his fake fiancée, she thought she was just playing a stand-in in someone else's story.
Jin Minkui was the head of the Jin Group, as well as the most unreachable person at the company where she was interning. His first love, Song Qingwan, had died, and Qiu Yingying happened to have a similar profile. So he gave her an apartment, a card, and a respectable identity, and had her stand by his side at public events.
She thought he was looking through her at someone else.
So she hid her feelings and quietly played Song Qingwan's shadow. When he got drunk and called her by the wrong name, she pretended not to hear. As the contract's expiration date drew closer, she kept telling herself, over and over: Don't take this seriously.
But Jin Minkui's growing loss of control seemed less and less like an act.
He remembered that she loved crab-roe soup dumplings, that she had dimples when she smiled, and how she had looked singing in a white dress at the company gala. Then Qiu Yingying broke a photo frame in his study and saw that the person in the picture wasn't Song Qingwan. It was her.
On the back of the photo, a line was written:
"Yingying, you looked lovely smiling at the gala."
The stand-in romance she had imagined had, from beginning to end, been his sincere plan to win her heart.
She hid from him, from the contract, from her own feelings.
But she didn't know she had already found shelter in his heart.
In this game of romantic hide-and-seek, she thought she had hidden herself well.
Only Jin Minkui knew: the person he had been searching for was always her.
One-line summary:
She thought she was a stand-in for his first love, only to discover that his first love was actually her.
