A Cat's Case Files | A Cat's Work Diary
Impulsive, sunny heroine x long-suffering hero who loves knitting
A super-capable calico x a timid black cat
Bickering enemies~Mutual healing~
Good news: Xia Zhilu only has to work two days out of five!
More good news: The other three days, she has to be a cat!
After her grandmother died, Xia Zhilu quit her job and prepared to move back to the little town where she had lived with her grandmother for years. But on a rainy night, the evening before she left, she found a drenched kitten.
She thought she'd finally stopped being a catless loner. Little did she know she'd wake up as a cat who needed a human
The calico she'd brought home sat on her bedside table, while Xia Zhilu, curled up in the cat bed, watched her secondhand cabinet begin to crack.
Wait... you...
You can't do that, don't
Humans can't do this, humans really can't
After an unexpected body swap with her cat, Xia Zhilu began an odd two-shift life: the cat on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; herself on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays; and a random schedule on Sundays.
Of course, first she had to win the favor of Her Cat Majesty.
Shen Youqing, who also alternated between being a cat and a human, spent Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays writing papers as himself, and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays writing papers as a black cat. He glanced at "himself," snoring away on the sofa.
Shen Youqing, who had to work and win the cat's favor: "..."
Fine, then.
At their first meeting, Xia Zhilu got her scarf stolen.
At their second, she made Shen Youqing's face meet a tree trunk.
At their third, Shen Youqing ambushed her with dandelions. At their fourth, they were both made to sit facing the wall in a dark room for an hour.
At their fifth, they got caught up in a bizarre theft case...
Xia Zhilu had this to say:
Fine, fine, what a small world. Of course we'd keep running into each other.
Strange scents, phantasmagoric dreams, and countless obsessions wove together the memories they held most dear. Xia Zhilu and Shen Youqing remembered, healed, and drew closer, again and again.
As the truth behind the theft came to light, so did the reason they had switched bodies with their cats
A hundred times, a thousand times, ten thousand times, saving themselves from their darkest hours, forever.
Her Calico Majesty: "Could you tell me again the story about how you invited me home from under the streetlamp on a rainy night and made me your empress?"
Xia Zhilu: "..."
