For her eighteenth birthday, Li Nuo received a Bentley Continental. She made a wish: May the people I love be safe and well, and may the people who love me thrive.
Less than a month later, her family went bankrupt, her father took his own life, and an accident left her mother paralyzed from the neck down.
At her lowest and most helpless, the son of her father's driver confessed his feelings for her: a quiet, resilient top student from the capital with a bright future ahead.
“Nothing will change. I won't let you go hungry. Your hands can stay soft and fair forever. I'll make sure you can keep the life you've always had.”
“Wherever you go, one phone call is all it takes, and I'll be there right away.”
Li Nuo wasn't going anywhere. All she wanted was to wrap her arms around his waist and ride behind him on his electric scooter.
Never look down on a poor young man.
After waking up from a car accident, Li Nuo was told she was already twenty-five.
She covered her face and wept. When the calluses on her hands scraped her obviously thinner cheeks, she froze.
She didn't want counseling. She just kept calling him, over and over.
On a stormy, thundering night, that familiar yet strange figure finally appeared outside her hospital room.
He looked like he'd come straight from a long journey.
“Xie Zhijiu is a big jerk. Xie Zhijiu didn't take good care of Li Nuo at all!” She rushed over and wrapped her arms around his waist. The solid shape beneath her palms was nothing like the slender waist of the boy she remembered.
Lean and firm, it was the sturdy frame of a grown man.
The young heiress's temper flared up quickly and faded just as fast.
After she'd cried her fill, she looked up at him. “Zhizhi, I don't want to stay here. I'm scared. Take me home, quick.”
The man gazed at her in gloomy silence. After a long while, he asked, “Li Nuo, do you still want to come home with me?”
Later, Li Nuo was driven in a luxury car whose model she couldn't even name, and taken to a heavily guarded villa.
Xie Zhijiu had changed. She thought he was just being grumpy because work had worn him out. It was probably just the seven-year itch.
But this was the first time in her life the young heiress had ever had to coax someone.
She did as he said and rarely went out. She waited obediently for him to come home each day. Clinging to him and acting sweet barely worked, and even when she secretly slipped into his bed at night, he would send her back out.
Until the day her phone was fixed. Pointing at the 521 missed calls on its screen, she asked, “Zhizhi, why did my old class monitor call me so many times? Do you know what kind of relationship we had?”
Xie Zhijiu glanced at the loathsome name that had repeatedly appeared in investigation files over the years. His eyes grew dark and cold as he raised a hand to grip her chin. After all those years, he kissed her fiercely once more.
The night was cool and still. Tiny tremors, like crushed pear blossoms, melted away with it.
Li Nuo's face gradually grew round and healthy again, and her rough fingers slowly returned to their former softness.
“Zhizhi, I don't think I've got my memory back yet. Did I lose the black card you gave me?”
“Zhizhi, you used to say you'd marry me when I turned twenty. Why didn't we get married?”
Xie Zhijiu was still acting strange. He bought her everything, yet when she said she wanted an ordinary, inexpensive electric scooter, he looked disgusted.
But now, no matter how late Xie Zhijiu got home, he always came to her room first and held her very, very tightly.
She smiled and stroked his short hair, feeling as if she were petting a large dog someone had abandoned.
The man's voice was hoarse, its dull rumble passing through her chest. “Rubies or sapphires? Which do you like more?”
“That's so hard. What if I can't choose and like them both?”
The man gently rubbed her wrist. “All right. Rubies on the left, sapphires on the right.”
That night, Li Nuo dreamed that nineteen-year-old Xie Zhijiu was kneeling in the pouring rain. His eyes were bloodshot, but he grinned like a madman. “So it's because I'm not rich enough? Xiao Nuo, don't make me fall in love with you again, or I'll put the most expensive shackles in the world on you with my own hands...”
They broke up, and she was the one who dumped him!
Li Nuo remembered!
Also known as: “After Losing My Memory, My Crazy Ex Kept Me Under House Arrest” and “After I Got My Memory Back, I Eloped With the Class Monitor Again, and My Ex Went Crazy Chasing Me All Over Again”
The male and female leads are devoted to each other, 1v1, and sexually inexperienced. They didn't break up over money. The class monitor is just there for comic relief. Everything happens for a reason. It's sweet, sour, and painful, with more sweetness than pain.
Beautiful, pampered fallen heiress with a sunny disposition vs. sickly, scheming ex, an abandoned dog (loyal dog → abandoned dog → rabid dog → virtually no moral limits)
