Pretending to Be Poor, I Make Up Excuses to Enjoy Life Every Day

Yan Qingmu suspects she has been set up by a group of people. The promotion she had been longing for for five years was ruined by her ex, whom she broke up with seven years ago and who had immediately moved on to someone new right in front of her!

If that were all, she could still comfort herself: It’s fine. I’ve already waited five years, so there’s still a chance. But then her ex’s current partner pulled strings to get a job at her company, and the boss who had just taken over waved her out the door.

Even then, Yan Qingmu didn’t curse the heavens. She merely opened social media and “cursed” her ex a few times. Who knew her whole family would find out? She was unemployed and single, and they forced her to choose between a career and love.

Yan Qingmu refused to give up and spent three whole months looking for a job. Either she was rejected before she could even start, or her resume was turned away. It wasn’t until the algorithm took pity on her and recommended a video of her ex’s current partner that she realized there was no way she’d find a decent job.

So she slapped the table! Blind dates!

But if she was going to go on blind dates, she wasn’t going to make things hard on herself. She listed requirement after requirement, piling on conditions until one match after another ran away. At last, Yan Qingmu found the one fate had chosen for her: a man who couldn’t have children.

No parents, no burdens. He even said he lived at a friend’s place. He agreed to everything she said, so she wasn’t worried about being saddled with someone else’s baggage.

“I can’t do housework.”

“That’s fine. I have coupons. We’ll call a housekeeper.”

“I don’t like cooking or doing dishes, either.”

“My friend owns a restaurant. We can eat there for free, and we won’t have to do the dishes.”

“It’s too far. I don’t want to walk.”

“Perfect. My friend’s car is parked at my place because there’s no room outside his restaurant.”

Yan Qingmu looked at the Maserati by the door, then at the diamond-studded Patek Philippe on Lu Chengyun’s wrist. She swallowed and pretended she hadn’t noticed a thing.
