Coming-of-age / unrequited love becomes mutual / age gap

[Bright and sweet x gentle older man]

Lu Shiyuan likes someone.

He's her older brother's good friend, and his name is Zhou Li.

But her love began when she was fifteen, and ended when she was fifteen.

Because she realized Zhou Li only saw her as "his friend's little sister."

There was no chance of anything happening between them.

Her love was hidden away, never to see the light of day.

The day she learned her unrequited love was destined to go nowhere,

she sat at her desk from night until dawn.

At last, she stretched out her stiff hand

and opened the jar of stars she'd planned to give Zhou Li for his birthday.

She took out the one star

she'd hidden inside, with her confession written on it.

Then she folded a new star and put it inside.

She wrote nothing on it. It was only accidentally stained with her tears.

After that, she left Yingchuan,

thinking their paths would never cross again.

But the clouds over her unrequited love's ending parted, and daylight poured through.

Years later, Lu Shiyuan opened the star jar in their home, the one the man had cherished.

And she found

that on the crumpled blank paper star she'd used to replace her confession,

a line of elegant handwriting had appeared:

Your older brother likes someone, and his wish came true.
